The Thérèse Neveu Workshops
Even if their name does not point it out, Thérèse Neveu Workshops are a place dedicated to temporary exhibitions, in the very place of the former Thérèse Neveu’s Workshop. She was a famous Aubagne santons-maker.
They are located at the top of the old city of Aubagne.
They give a panorama of the pottery heritage thanks to temporary exhibitions (from 6 to 8 months), dedicated to the arts of clay with the edition of a catalogue.
The Thérèse Neveu Workshops punctually receive artists in residence, such as Jean-Jacques Surian.

Events linked to Clay Arts

Argilla
•   A biennial created in 1991, in Aubagne
•   It is the largest pottery fair of France which receives, during 2 days of August, 170 craftsmen from all over France and Europe, and about 70.000 visitors.
•   Various disciplines are represented: porcelain, stone ware, polished earth, glazed earth, earthenware…and numerous animations.

Biennial of the Santon Art
•   A biennale created in 1995, alternately with Argilla
•   A big santons fair, on the 1st week-end of December
•   50 selected santons-makers, from Southern France
•   Numerous animations are represented during this event: choirs, storytellers, in the purest Christmas Provencal tradition…

Traditional santons and ceramic fairs
•   Twice a year: one in summer and one in winter time
•   They last a month and a half
•   Small wooden individual stands are set on the main place of Aubagne. In these stands, the local ceramists and santons-makers present their latest creations.

Provencal 'crèches'
•   From the end of November to the end of December, each year
•   In all the villages and towns of the Country of Aubagne
•   The most important ones are in Aubagne: 2 panoramic 'crèches' on the Foch place and in the small World of Marcel Pagnol, with scenes of life in 19th century Provencal villages.
