Located in the high valley of Huveaune, Auriol, with its 11.057 inhabitants enjoy a landscape marked by forest and agrarian places.
Auriol is one of the access-doors to the Sainte-Baume Mountain.
Auriol has a heritage presenting various periods of history:
- Ruins of the medieval castle (dating from the 1001 year)
- The Sainte Barbe place and its fountain
- The ‘Sainte-Croix chapel’ and its panoramic view on the village (cover of this file)
- The ‘Clock Tower’ (1564)
- The ‘Barres Treasury’: more than 2000 coins of pure silver dating from the 6th century before J.C.
- More than 20 oratories in the village area
- The hamlet of Moulin de Redon: a typical of the smallest Provencal villages.
- The Martin Duby museum, concerning art and popular traditions, offers regular temporary exhibitions of quality.
