The Pagnol 's Garlabagn

The mountain of Garlaban, located at the west of Aubagne and Roquevaire, culminates to 710 Mr. For his major part out of white limestone, it carries the trace of the agricultural activity of formerly: many field terraces and some old farms. It is furrowed by multiple paths and in particular the Pagnol circuits, which make discover with the visitors the outstanding elements of written and filmed work famous Académicien.

Marcel Pagnol turned the majority of his films and drew the inspiration of his accounts in these hills of Provence, dominated by Garlaban. Go in its steps and, with the turning of the paths of this “desert of garrigues”, you discover single landscapes which smell good thyme and rosemary, animated by the song of the cicadas. All the universe of Pagnol is, timeless there…

To traverse this ground end of Provence, it is to make much more than one natural walk combining, cinema and literature: it is to make the way of a life, to discover the heart of the people of Provence and to taste with the sources of inspiration in which Marcel Pagnol did not cease plunging his feather.

Practical information: Seven hikes are proposed to you:

1. The Farm of Angele: 4,8 km (return ticket). Time: 1h50 (return ticket). Made uneven: 276 to 385 Mr. Niveau: easy
2. The Cave of Manon: 5,7 km (return ticket). Time: 2h. Made uneven: 276 to 510 Mr. Niveau: means
3. Garlaban and Taoumé: 13,7 km (return ticket). Time: 5h. Made uneven: 276 to 714 (top of Garlaban) and 667 m (Peak of Taoumé). Level: difficult.
4. Treillised vineyard in Garlaban: 13,5 km (return ticket). Time: 4h50. Made uneven: 276 to 714 Mr. Niveau: difficult
5. Taoumé: 13km (return ticket). Time: 4h30. Made uneven: 209 to 667 Mr. Niveau: difficult
6. The cornice of the Large Small valley: 7,7 km (return ticket). Time: 2h45. Made uneven: 210 to 714 Mr. average Niveau
7. The Sourne Balsam: 12,4 km (return ticket). Time: 4h30. Made uneven: 210 to 689 Mr. difficult Niveau.

CAUTION!
The pedestrian paths, subjected to the prefectoral decree, are regulated of July 1 at 2nd Saturday of September.
In yellow or orange zone, the accesses to the paths are allowed only 6h 11h.
In red or black zone, the accesses to the paths are STRICTLY prohibited. Weather forecasting concerning the paths is communicated to you by the Office of Tourism, the day before for the following day, as of 17h30 to the 04 42 03 49 98.
